Mine COIN
Mining is built into the COIN Wallet. Choose how many CPU threads to give it and press Start mining. That's all there is to it.
The Mining page, drawn simply. Set your CPU threads, then press Start mining.
-
Let your wallet sync
Your node has to catch up with the network before it can mine. The wallet says Connected when it's ready.
-
Open Advanced, then Mining
The Mining page is under Advanced, which appears when the wallet is in Advanced mode, the mode that runs your own node.
-
Choose your CPU threads
Press Use half (recommended) to keep your computer comfortable for everything else, or Use all threads to mine as fast as it can.
-
Press Start mining
That's it. The status line shows your hashrate and your chance of finding a block each day. Press Stop mining whenever you like.
Mine only when you're away
Tick Background mining (experimental) and the wallet mines only while the computer is idle. On a laptop it pauses on battery, unless you also tick Enable mining when running on battery.
Rewards
This is solo mining: there's no pool and no account. When your computer finds a block, the whole block reward goes straight to your wallet. It shows up in Transactions as Mined and unlocks after 60 blocks, about two hours.
How often you find a block depends on your share of all the mining on the network, so it can take a while on one computer. Every hash still helps keep the network secure.
Mine on your own computers
Mining uses electricity and makes your processor work hard and run warm. Mine only on computers you own or have permission to use.
Advanced: mine from the command line
From the node console
> start_mining ADDRESS THREADSAdd true at the end for background mining. mining_status shows how it's going and stop_mining stops it.
From the command-line wallet
> start_mining THREADSMines to the wallet you have open, using a node on the same computer.
